Surah An-Najm | A Powerful Reminder from the Qur’an
Listen to a beautiful and moving Qur’an recitation of Surah An-Najm (The Star), Surah 53 of the Holy Qur’an, recited by Imam AbdulRahman Khattab at NICSA – Northside Islamic Center of San Antonio. Surah An-Najm (سورة النجم) is the 53rd chapter of the Qur’an. Its name, An-Najm, means “The Star.” The Surah begins with the powerful words: وَالنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ “By the star when it descends.” Surah An-Najm contains profound reminders about divine revelation, the truth of the message of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, accountability before Allah ﷻ, the Hereafter, and the absolute greatness and authority of Allah. It calls believers to reflect upon the signs of Allah, reject false objects of worship, and recognize that ultimately everything returns to Him. The Surah also contains a powerful reminder of our purpose and our relationship with our Creator, concluding with the command: فَاسْجُدُوا لِلَّهِ وَاعْبُدُوا “So prostrate to Allah and worship Him.” This recitation is an opportunity to slow down, listen attentively to the words of Allah ﷻ, and reconnect our hearts with the Qur’an. The Qur’an is not simply a book to be recited—it is guidance for our lives, a reminder for our hearts, and a source of mercy for those who believe. In a world filled with distractions, taking time to listen to and reflect upon the Qur’an can help renew our faith and remind us of what truly matters. May Allah ﷻ make us among those who recite the Qur’an, understand its message, live according to its guidance, and teach it to future generations. May Allah ﷻ allow the Qur’an to illuminate our hearts, strengthen our Iman, bring peace to our homes, guide our families, forgive our shortcomings, and bring us closer to Him.
